Picture of Teacup Chihuahua

It’s easy to find a picture of Teacup Chihuahua on the Internet. The other terms to describe the teacup Chihuahua are "toy Chihuahua," "micro teacup Chihuahua," "miniature Chihuahua," "pocket size," "tiny toy," or "toy Chihuahua." All these words are used by irresponsible breeders to attract buyers’ attention to their dogs and make them pay more. The Chihuahua is already the Toy breed, along with several other toy dog breeds: Poodles, Terriers, and some others. The teacup Chihuahua is the most popular dog among those not recognized by the AKC and other kennel clubs and canine registries. Actually, no breed registry differentiates Chihuahuas into size varieties. According to the AKC breed standard, a purebred quality dog of this breed should weight under 6 pounds; smaller dogs are preferred, if their size doesn’t cause health issues.

A picture of Teacup Chihuahua may actually be a picture of a smaller dog. A size variance between individual dogs within the breed may be considerable. If this is the case with your Chihuahua, you are lucky to have a healthy pet, though you may have paid more than it should cost.

A picture of Teacup Chihuahua found on a number of websites of breeders or happy owners often features a sickly dog. Such dogs are bred specially to be small. Nobody cares about their health, lifespan, or temperament. The main method for producing smaller Chihuahuas is inbreeding. It results in producing large numbers of teacups with functional disorders and a shorter lifespan.

There are people who see no problem in health issues of a tiny dog. They choose the smallest “runt” of the litter and give it their love and best possible care. Even the smallest dogs need much time and attention to become loving and reliable pets. Owners are often too permissive of their small dogs. Sure, without proper socialization and training, a little creature will not do much harm, but its bad habits will be difficult to live with. So, when you see a picture of teacup Chihuahua and want to buy such a dog, think about the time you are ready to devote to the dog and your abilities to train a dog.
